Rules & Safety

Here are the general safety guidelines and rules for Flipzone Trampoline park, designed to ensure a safe environment for all participants. These rules must be followed at all times.

General Park Rules
  • Waivers are required: All participants must have a signed liability waiver on file. For minors (under 18), a parent or legal guardian must sign the waiver.
  • Follow staff instructions: Court monitors are present to ensure safety, and their instructions must be followed at all times.
  • Stay within your limits: Only attempt skills or activities that are within your personal ability and skill level. Flips and tricks can be dangerous and are performed at your own risk.
  • No drugs or alcohol: You are not permitted to use the park if you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • Health restrictions: Individuals who are pregnant or have back, neck, or heart problems should not jump.
  • One jumper per trampoline: To avoid collisions and serious injuries, only one person should be on a single trampoline section at a time.
  • No double bouncing: Intentionally affecting another person’s bounce is strictly prohibited as it can cause serious injuries.
  • Land on two feet: Always aim to land on two feet with knees bent to stop your bounce or land as flat as possible on your back or bottom in foam pits.
  • Never land on your head or neck: This can cause severe injury, paralysis, or death.
  • No running or rough play: Running across the court, pushing, tackling, or horseplay is not allowed.
  • Stay off the pads/nets: Do not sit, lie down, or land on the safety pads or climb on the walls and netting.

  • Grip socks are required: Flipzone grip socks with rubberized soles must be worn at all times to help with traction and hygiene.
  • Empty pockets: All items must be removed from your pockets, including keys, cell phones, and cameras.
  • Remove jewelry: Remove all jewelry, watches, scarves, and other loose items that could get caught in the equipment.
  • Proper clothing: Wear comfortable, athletic clothing. Avoid clothing with sharp objects, studs, or excessive zippers.
  • No food, drink, or gum: Nothing should be in your mouth while jumping due to choking hazards.
  • Adult supervision for children: Children under a certain age (often under 10 or 13) must be actively supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.
Dodgeball Rules

The objective of dodgeball is to eliminate all players on the opposing team by hitting them with a thrown ball, catching their thrown ball, or by forcing them to commit a violation.

Basic Gameplay & Rules

  • Teams: A game is typically played with up to 10  players per team on the court.
  • Starting the Game (The Rush): Balls are placed along the center line. Players start behind their end line, and upon an official’s signal, rush to retrieve the balls. A ball must be taken behind the attack line (or end line, depending on specific league rules) before it can be legally thrown at an opponent.
  • Elimination: A player is out if:
    • They are hit by a live thrown ball anywhere on their body, clothing, or uniform (usually below the shoulders in recreational play). A live ball has not touched the floor, wall, or another object/player.
    • They throw a live ball and an opponent catches it before it touches the ground or a wall. The thrower is out, and one of the catcher’s teammates (usually the first one eliminated) can return to the game.
    • They cross over the center line or any other court boundary line during play.
    • They drop a ball they are using to block a thrown ball.
  • Blocking: Players may use a ball they are holding to block an incoming ball. However, if they drop the blocking ball or if the thrown ball still hits them, they are out.
  • Boundaries: Players must remain within the court boundaries. They can leave the court only through their end line to retrieve stray balls and must return immediately through the same line.
  • Stalling: To prevent teams from intentionally delaying the game, a team controlling all the balls for more than 5-10 seconds without making a valid throw will receive a violation, and the balls will be awarded to the other team.
  • Winning the Game: The first team to eliminate all opponents is the winner. Games may also have a time limit, in which case the team with more players remaining at the end of regulation time wins.

Players are expected to play by the honor system and call themselves out when hit.

Ninja Course Rules

Ninja course rules vary by facility and competition, but generally focus on safety, completing obstacles in sequence, avoiding touching “out of bounds” areas (typically the ground or support structures), and adhering to time limits

General & Safety Rules

  • Listen to staff: Always follow the instructions of course attendants or judges.
  • One person per obstacle: Avoid crowding and maintain a safe distance from other participants (e.g., 10 ft).
  • No running or horseplay: Laying down, resting, or engaging in unsportsmanlike conduct is generally prohibited within the course area.
  • Stay in bounds: Only use designated grips, steps, and landing platforms. Do not use supporting structures (e.g., metal trussing, vertical poles) unless they are explicitly part of the obstacle.
  • Know your limits: Do not attempt obstacles or activities beyond your personal ability or fitness level.
  • Empty pockets: Keep pockets empty to prevent items from falling out and becoming a safety hazard.
  • Long hair secured: Tie back long hair to maintain a clear line of sight and prevent it from getting caught.

Competition Rules

  • Obstacle completion: Athletes must begin at the designated starting point for each obstacle and make their way to the finish platform without touching “out of bounds”.
  • Scoring: Scoring is typically based on the number of obstacles completed, with time as a tie-breaker. Some formats use a point system where more difficult obstacles or “touch points” yield more points.
  • No skipping: All obstacles must be attempted in the designated order.
  • Attempts/Retries: Depending on the format, athletes may get only one attempt per obstacle (Flow Course format) or be allowed a limited number of retries per obstacle/course (Challenge Course format).
  • Time limits: Most competitions have a maximum time limit for completing the course or a section of the course.
  • Age divisions: Competitions have specific rules and age-appropriate courses for different age groups (e.g., kids, youth, adults, masters, pros).
  • Judging: Judges or course attendants have the final say on whether an attempt was successful.

Bubble ball Course Rules

Bubble ball course rules prioritize safety and fair play, as the game typically involves players wearing large inflatable bubbles for a variation of soccer or other field games. The key rules involve wearing the bubble correctly, avoiding specific aggressive hits, allowing fallen players to get up, and ensuring a safe playing environment

Safety and Equipment Rules

  • Proper Fit and Attire: The bubble must fit correctly, with your head at least 8 inches below the top edge for protection. Players must wear athletic and remove all jewelry, watches, glasses (unless secured with an eyewear retainer), and sharp objects.
  • Safe Bumping: Bumping should be incidental to the game (e.g., trying to get the ball), not the primary goal.
    • NO spearing: Do not bend down or lunge head-first into a bump using the top of the bubble.
    • NO hitting from behind: Avoid bumping opponents from blind spots or behind.
    • NO hitting downed players: Players who are on the ground must be allowed to get up before being bumped again.
    • Moderate speed: Avoid running at full speed for direct collisions; approach at light to moderate speed from a limited distance (e.g., no more than 15 feet for a direct rush).
  • Boundaries: Stay within the designated playing area and avoid hitting others into hard surfaces like walls, goalposts, or spectator areas.
  • Listen to Referees: Stop play immediately when the referee blows the whistle.
  • Health and Condition: Participants should be in good health for vigorous activity and not under the influence of alcohol or drugs. People with certain medical conditions (e.g., heart problems, back/neck problems, pregnancy) should not participate.
  • One Person Per Bubble: Only one person is allowed inside a bubble at a time.
  • Appropriate Surface: Play only on approved surfaces like grass, artificial turf, or gym floors, never on pavement or concrete.

These rules ensure the experience remains fun and minimizes the risk of injury for all participants.

Climbing Wall Rules

Indoor climbing wall rules are designed to ensure safety and maintain order, with specific guidelines for different activities like bouldering and roped climbing. Key rules include using the right equipment, staying out of designated fall zones, and following instructions from staff.

General rules for all climbers

  • Waivers and check-in: All participants must sign a waiver before climbing. You must also check in with the front desk before each session.
  • Stay out of fall zones: Do not walk, stand, or lie on the padded matting where someone could fall on you.
  • No running or horseplay: The floor is not a playground. Do not engage in activities that could endanger yourself or others.
  • Stay aware of your surroundings: Be mindful of climbers around you, both on the wall and on the ground.
  • Report issues immediately: Notify staff of any safety concerns, such as loose or spinning holds, damaged equipment, or unsafe behavior.
  • No food or drinks: Do not bring food or drinks onto the padded mats.

Bouldering rules

  • Stay below the line: Most gyms have a designated bouldering line that climbers are not allowed to cross.
  • Control your landing: Whenever possible, down-climb to minimize your fall. If jumping down, land with bent knees to absorb the impact.
  • Give others space: Do not climb or traverse above or below another climber.
  • Use spotters wisely: spotting is less common due to padded floors. If spotting, remember your goal is to help guide a fall, not to catch the climber.
  • Use designated areas: Bouldering should only be done on the designated walls with crash pads below.
Foam pit Rules

Foam pit rules at Flipzone trampoline parks are critical for safety and generally focus on proper entry and exit, landing techniques, and awareness of other jumpers. The core rules are:

Before You Jump

  • Empty Pockets/Remove Jewelry: All loose items, including phones, cameras, jewelry, watches, keys, and belt buckles, must be removed to prevent injury or loss in the pit.
  • Appropriate Attire: Wear the park’s approved grip socks and athletic clothing. Long hair should be tied back and secured.
  • Health Limitations: Do not use the foam pit if you have health conditions (e.g., heart, back, or neck problems), recent surgeries, or are pregnant.
  • Follow Staff Instructions: Always listen to the court attendants (staff members) and do not jump until they indicate the area is clear.

While You Jump

  • One Jumper at a Time: Only one person is allowed per trampoline launch lane or entry point at a time.
  • Land Feet or Rear First: Land feet first with knees apart, or flat on your back or bottom.
  • NO Headfirst Entry/Diving: Never dive or enter the foam pit headfirst or in a rigid “pencil” dive, as this can cause serious neck or head injuries.
  • Stay in Control: Remain in control of your body at all times and jump within your personal ability and skill level.
  • No Dangerous Tricks: Avoid attempting double flips, gainers (forward-moving backflips), or any maneuver beyond your skill level.
  • No Horseplay: Running, pushing, tackling, or any form of aggressive behavior is prohibited.
  • No Sitting or Lying Down: Exit the pit promptly after your landing; do not sit, lie down, or burrow in the foam.
  • Keep Foam in the Pit: Do not throw, dig out, or play with the foam cubes outside of the designated area.

After You Jump

  • Exit Promptly: Climb out of the foam pit as quickly as possible using the designated exit areas to make room for the next jumper.
  • Ensure Clear Area: Wait until the previous person has completely exited the foam pit before you jump.

High Jumping Trampoline Rules

“High jumping” in a trampoline setting can refer to general high bouncing at Flipzone trampoline park areas. In both cases, rules prioritize safety, one person at a time, and control

General & Safety Rules

  • One Jumper at a Time: This is the most crucial rule to prevent collisions and injuries from affecting another’s bounce.
  • Land on Your Feet or Bottom: Always aim to land on two feet with knees bent to control your bounce, or land flat on your bottom or back.
  • NO Landing on Head or Neck: This can cause serious injury, paralysis, or death and is strictly prohibited.
  • Stay in Control: Only jump within your personal ability. Avoid bouncing too high if you cannot control your landing.
  • No Flips or Somersaults (Generally): Flips are often discouraged in recreational settings and in many cases, outright banned unless supervised by a qualified instructor with appropriate safety equipment like a harness.
  • Empty Pockets & Remove Jewelry: Loose items and sharp objects pose an injury risk and should be removed before jumping.
  • Supervision: Children and all participants should be supervised by a mature and knowledgeable adult.
  • Do Not Jump Off: Exit the trampoline by walking to the edge, sitting, and sliding off. Do not jump from the trampoline to the floor.

Performance & Competition Rules

For areas designed for high-performance jumps or competition-style trampolines, additional rules apply:

  • Employee Supervision Required: Participants often need to be accompanied by a staff member or complete safety training beforehand.
  • Follow Attendant Directions: Listen closely to the instructions of the court attendants at all times.
  • Specific Landing Areas: When bouncing off vertical “performance walls”, you often must land on your back.
  • Advanced Skills at Your Own Risk: While more complex skills may be permitted, participants assume the risk and must perform within their validated skill level.
  • Equipment: Appropriate footwear (e.g., Flipzone grip socks ) is required, and the equipment is regularly inspected for damage.

Following these rules is essential to minimize the risk of serious injury associated with high-impact activities on trampolines.

Basketball Rules

Basketball trampoline park rules focus heavily on safety, controlled movement, and equipment protection, often featuring specific guidelines in addition to the general park rules.

Key Rules for the Basketball Area
